Has anyone had theirs yet? Any side effects?

I'm hearing some scare stories from the hoi polloi and would rather get advice from RA sufferers before I make a decision whether to have it or not. I've had it before and never had a problem but I'm hearing of side effects this year due to the inclusion of swine flu vaccination.

Hello

Having mine a week on Friday I havn't heard anyone of being poorly after having it though.

I decided to have the injection because if you have ever had REAL flu you are really poorly
and to outway being ill for 1 day or so with the injection I say go for it. . . . I have had proper
flu twice in my life and I felt like I was dying and I felt that now I have RA that would in pound.

You will get others views shortly

hi,

i posted a Flu Jab Thread a few weeks ago as i was very indecisive about it all, infact at the moment i am finding making any decisions difficult as i'm not under control yet and also tired.

i have now made up my mind to have it done, having had to cancel the appointment a couple of weeks ago as i had to go onto Anti-Biotics for a chest infection ... which has made my mind up i am now vunerable.

so as i type i am going to have it done a week on Thursday when i have my next blood tests.

i've discussed it twice now with my GP who has re-assured me that there isn't a problem and to go for it, and i trust him implicity.

i can't deny i am anxious about it but having read the replies on my Thread about it i've weighed it up.

hope this is some help to you,

Suzanne x

Had mine on 9th. Oct. Arm was a bit tender , like a bruise for a couple of days but that is all. I have been having them for several years with no problems. With us having a compromised immune system, I think they are a good idea.

Anyone with RA (and especially those on anti -tnfs) should be eligible for the flu, pneumonia and swine flu vaccines. Side effects are minimal, usually a slightly sore arm at worst as reported by others, I didn't experience any (lucky me!!)! We are all vulnerable to these sorts of illnesses so it is wise to protect against them!

Think about the consequences of not having it! Brings you back down to earth with a bump. Not just a grotty horrible illness but it will play havoc with the RA which could take months to recover from. I can never understand why people don't get these jabs, they are not 'live' vaccines and should have no effect other than to immunise you!

Go for it guys ThumpUp

I had mine a couple of weeks ago - had a red mark around the injection site, but no real problems. I`ve had it every year since diagnosis, & had the pneumonia jab too.

Since having been diagnosed with RA I have been called for my flu jabs and had them. I wasn't called for the swine flu one last year, don't know why and wasn't sure if I would of taken them up on the offer. I thought at the time it was alot of fuss about nothing and the government over reacted.

Have read that this years flu jab is for three different virus, one being swine flu. I read something the other day that the swine flu vaccine as been linked with Gullian Barre Syndrome an auto immune syndrome. Not sure if I want to have my flu jab this year.

Awww! Don't worry Julie, no-one offered me one either, I never get a letter, just ring and make the appointment. I've had to cancel now though because I've got a cold.

I didn't have the swine flu vaccine, mainly because it had not been thoroughly tested and I was worried because I am on humira and I'm sure it would not have been tested with those drugs.
Not all surgeries are using the vaccine that contains swine flu, don't know what my surgery are using but will just have to hope it's all been thoroughly tested now.

Hi
I have had the swine flue jab for the past two years with no problem. last year had the swine flue jab seperate with no problem. this year had the combined flue and swine flue jab in one arm and the pnumonia jab in the other arm and still no problem and no ill effects
so I would say go for it as long as you do not have a cold at the time of the jab
Regards

Had mine a couple of weeks ago- combi of normal flu + swine flu. Was advised to stop mtx for a week - ok for normal flu jab but not for swine one. No probs except for a slightly sore arm for a couple of days.
